280 Ackley Improved Ballistics Chart
280 Ackley Improved Ballistics Chart - I've been contemplating a.280 ai build four zones time, but just saw that savage offers that caliber in the ultralight. Just curious if anyone has information on what the difference in velocity would be between a 22 barrel and a 24 barrel for the 280 ai? The 280 ai will be a better lr hunting cartridge because 7mm bullets have higher bc and the 280 ai is launching them faster, so it shoots flatter, almost as good as the 7mm rem mag. Can anyone give me some load data for 168 & 180 grain bullets for the 280 ackley improved. 1.9480 the difference is subtle. You will likely max about 59 grains with a 180.rich last edited: I say 6.5 creedmoor for what op described.

Its supposed to be a really accuracte cartridge too and you will end up with prolly a pretty accurate rig since your action will be trued up, assuming its a decent. Looking in my speer load book at the specs on all 3, the 280, 270, and 30.06, the best brass for a conversion as far as numbers is certainly to use 280ai cases for 6.5. Just got my rem 700 rebarrelled with this chambering in a 26 sporter contour with 1x8.75 twist. I've been contemplating a.280 ai build four zones time, but just saw that savage offers that caliber in the ultralight. Never been a big fan of the.270 calibers, as i have always shot 7mm's (it wouldd be slightly redundant to own both since their so close in diameter).so i would have to go with the.280 ackley. I say 6.5 creedmoor for what op described.

I'd like to get some input with regard to powders and associated loads. Both are great rounds, but the ackley is definitely a hand loaders game. Went to southwest colorado on my first elk hunt with a great group of guys and had a blast.

In A Hurry As I Didn't Have Much Time For Load.

You can try 63.0 grains of retumbo with the old wlr primer and the 168 grn berger hunting vld and nosler 280 ai brass. The 280 Ai Will Be A Better Lr Hunting Cartridge Because 7Mm Bullets Have Higher Bc And The 280 Ai Is Launching Them Faster, So It Shoots Flatter, Almost As Good As The 7Mm Rem Mag.
I say 6.5 creedmoor for what op described. I built two semi customs that are basically twins, one in 6.5 creedmoor one in 280 ackley.
